Meeting up with people at Wagh Bakri tea place at around 8 pm we decide to go to Purepur Kolhapur and to be honest I have never heard of this place before. Just near the famous Parleshwar Temple in Vile Parle East there is a big Milestone made with Kolhapur written over it and 0 KM which says you are at the right place.
After 6 of us enter and look at the menu we see only one veg item on it which is Veg Thali so to all the veggies around please you can avoid this place and for the meat eaters do enter without thinking twice just make sure you handle the spicy food.
Getting down we ordered Chicken Rassa Thali, Chicken Fry Thali, Egg Thali which comes with Egg Curry,
Pandhara Rassa [white curry] (unlimited), Tambada Rassa [red curry] (unlimited), Pulav / 2 Chapatis and yes the spiciest of the food is Egg Curry. No, they will not customize the thali for you, take if you want it attitude.
If a thali is too big for you try out a-la-carte which is a better option as in the end you tend to waste the Tambada Rassa and Pandhara Rassa.
Check out the menu here
Note: You don't get fish item here...

Gostana - Slurrpy Burgers
Hidden away in a quaint lane opposite Bagel Shop run by Aparna this place has the most awesomest burgers I have ever had for a long time...I used to slurrp on Hersheys burgers once upon a time. But these are super big burgers and light on your stomach you wont feel exhausted after having them.
Seats only around 16 max this place has Chess, UNO, Scrabble if you are in a group of 4 and you can enjoy your time while waiting for the burgers.
We had Chicken Gostana burger and Ginger Burger which cost Rs. 140 each with Wheat bread and you can also order multigrain bread (how cool is that). They do have Lamb and Fish burgers which were over for the day.
Like Subway they have Burger of the day which cost Rs. 75 and it is a super deal....next time i am going to try the Chicken Salad which looked awesome.
Go for it...right opposite Bagel Shop

KongPoush - Food on a Shikara
The only place in proper Mumbai to serve authentic Kashmiri food with Shikaras (real wooden boats in which you sit and dine) as the USP with the well known Kashmiri hospitality to match. This is what they claim and it is true to a point, finally after deciding so many times me and my sister ended up going to KongPoush as no one was home to serve us food as we enter. I used to pass this place often but in the morning so always used to miss it and in the evening you can never miss this place all tress nearby are lighted and so is the entry.
The restaurant is on the first floor and the place was super well done. They have created Shikara (a Kashmiri boat ) and big photos everywhere displaying Kashmiri Beauty.
Time for food now, we were thinking of going for a'la Carte but the steward suggested to go for Kokur Thaal and Gaad Batta which we did and we were surprised.
Kokur Thaal, this dish started with Chicken Tikka with a different flavor and 3 different chicken curries and 1 veg curry (Lotus Stem with Spinach). The food was delicious and tasted totally different from the actual fares what you get in other hotel.
Same thing with Gaad Batta, which was a fish plate again Lotus Stem and 3 fish curries.
The good part is unlimited roti and unlimited rice with the plate and firni to top it off.
Kokur Thaal: Rs. 349.00
Gaad Batta: Rs. 379.00
A bit steep but good for having once in a while.

The Coast - Cool Place for Good Food
I am a sucker for unlimited food for a fix cost and friends had decided to meet there...I was only tempted to meet them just for the food and the buffet (selfish me).
For the first time I went the cost of the buffet was Rs. 299 + taxes and then it increased to Rs. 499 + taxes.
The Coast true to its name is well created place which has sand from the beaches and shacks placed and an open area. So you truly feel that you are on a beach and having food..i mean good food.
The only problem was service which at time lacked quality and forgot that we wanted something.
Now I have to try the A'la Carte in Coast.
Address:
Fifth Floor, Crystal Paradise, Off Linking Road, Bandra (W), Mumbai
Landmark: Next to Mumbai Times Cafe
Phone: 66711586, 66711587, 9930918106

Note: They have stopped the buffet service :(So what did the buffet have, well 4 varieties of veggies and 4 varieties of non veg food in main course and 1 starter each. I had gone there twice and was not at all disappointed with the non veg section. They do stock up well and people with different taste enjoyed the food coz they had 2 chicken dish, 1 mutton dish and 1 fish dish (or at times prawns/tisrya[shell fish]) . To top it off they used to serve unlimited Beer *yes yes you read it right UNLIMITED BEER* and unlimited Hookah which really complimented the konkani styled food.

Fishland - Hyderabad
My first visit to Hyderabad and was high on having Chicken Biryani, after going to Osman Sagar and doing some nature walk, garden next to Hussain Sagar we decided to check out for some Biryani, friend who has being staying in Hyderabad for last 3 years.
We end up going to FishLand in Ameerpet which is on first floor and also have Special Andhra Thali in the afternoon from Monday to Saturday.
Being a Saturday, we were scared we would not get place to sit and there would be waiting luckily got seats for 3 as soon as we got in. The menu was mix of Chinese and Muglai food. So the veggie guy went for Paneer Chilly which we had a bite in, Paneer was soft and spiciness was proper. We ordered for Tangdi Kabab and Fish Tikka.
Fish Tikka was soft and could be cut by toothpick and was a bit spicy and tangy which i liked and quantity was around 8 - 9 big chunks of Fish Pieces. Tangdi Kabab was juicy but had a lil bit more pepper than intended.
As we were all full by the Starters coz of the huge quantity which i always like in a hotel, we planned to have only one Veg Dish which was Baby Corn Mushroom Masala a typical fare nothing to write about.
Service was a bit lethargic as they forgot the Masala Papad which i had ordered with the veggies and the waiters were too in a holiday mood.
But let that not deter you from going there coz food is tasty and in good quantity.

Konkan Swad
This restaurant is being for long in Goregaon (precisely 6 years), it is run by a South Indian but serves really delicious Konkan fares.
When it first opened up my heart said that lets go and check it out but as I did not know what to order and what not to order. Luckily friends used to come to my place and one was a Konkani and we decided to try it out.
First experience was that food is way too hot and I could not handle it...almost had 4 glasses of cold water that time.
Even after 6 years the taste is still the same and had my favorite Chicken Masala Fry with 4 chappatis. Ended with half plate rice and chicken rasa....the bill cost was Rs. 105/- which I find a fare deal if my stomach is full.
Where: Right at the junction of M.G. Road and Link Road (Goregaon)
When to go: Make sure you go during weekdays as weekends I always find hordes of people just waiting for a bite.
Ambiance: It is ok if not many people around you would be in peace and enjoy the meal.
Food: Typically Konkani food with variety of fishes, chicken, prawns, mutton and vade included. During weekends they also have crabs (which i have not yet tasted)
Value for money: It sure is worth it...not as expensive as Mahesh Lunch Home and would not hurt your wallet much.
Verdict: 4/5
