Shift of Power

There was a time when going to Bandra from Goregaon was a must because every week a new place would open up and it used to be awesome. Recent times have changed the location from Bandra to Andheri Link Road, Lokhandwala and New Oshiwara Link Road where most of the big places have opened up their franchise...

Hometown Cafe, Bora Bora, Grillopolis, Red Ants, China1, Sammy Sosa etc etc are the ones which have opened up first near the Andheri area. Woodside Inn, Cafe Mangii, have opened up recently in Andheri now no more traveling upto  Bandra or town to enjoy your favorite dishes at your favorite places.

But then still there have being times when new branches do not serve the quality what we are used to the original one. So the big question here is...do restaurants and cafes open up at new places but serving bad food affect the overall quality or just have the original one and make it even better.

Aroma Of China - Aromatic Experience

One of those fine dining Chinese place where you would want to go once just for the experience. I went to the one in Oberoi Mall in Goregaon East. Located at top floor and once you are inside the restaurant you don't really feel like you are in a mall.

Big open space and good distance between 2 tables gives you enough privacy. High Ceiling and good wooden design makes it a chill place to be.

We ordered for a  SeaFood Lemon Soup which was a clear soup with few pieces of fishes and good tinch of lemon in it.

Our next started was Steamed Chicken Wonton which was well garnished with spices just to keep the flavoring well and not too bland.

Final main course was Beijing Veg Clay Pot Rice and Spinach Clivers with Almonds, both came in with good quantity and complimented each other coz Clay Pot rice was nice and soggy while spinach was Crispy (i mixed them both).

Ambiance, again said before all chilled out and waiters know the food. (ohh you can gulp down on Hot Tea - unlimited)

Cost, expensive enough but worth every penny as food is good.

Thakur Omelette - Different Than Others

As we all know every Omelette wala has his own specialty and his own style, Thakur is one of these.

Located in Jawahar Nagar, near Goregaon Station in west. Just walk down 2 mins towards the temple and take a right from the garden you cannot miss it. Opens up around 7.30 pm or 8 pm this place is swamped with Gujju's and Madu's open till midnight.

So his menu consists of Ek Pe Ek, Do pe Ek, Do pe Do well i will explain you.

Ek pe Ek means Half Fry over Single Omelette. DO pe Ek means Single Fry over double Omelette. This guy serves you starts off with a huge chunk of butter and pours in the mix. After making it fluffy he has a special powder which is generously sprays over the omelette serves you with good serving of onions and his chutney.

One bite of it makes you go *ummm*

Cost of Ek pe Ek is Rs. 40 while Do pe Ek is Rs. 70 if you reach around 10 pm you will be definitely waiting.

So if at times you feel bored of eating at home this is a good change.

Konkan Swad

This restaurant is being for long in Goregaon (precisely 6 years), it is run by a South Indian but serves really delicious Konkan fares.

When it first opened up my heart said that lets go and check it out but as I did not know what to order and what not to order. Luckily friends used to come to my place and one was a Konkani and we decided to try it out.

First experience was that food is way too hot and I could not handle it...almost had 4 glasses of cold water that time.

Even after 6 years the taste is still the same and had my favorite Chicken Masala Fry with 4 chappatis. Ended with half plate rice and chicken rasa....the bill cost was Rs. 105/- which I find a fare deal if my stomach is full.

Where: Right at the junction of M.G. Road and Link Road (Goregaon)
When to go: Make sure you go during weekdays as weekends I always find hordes of people just waiting for a bite.
Ambiance: It is ok if not many people around you would be in peace and enjoy the meal.
Food: Typically Konkani food with variety of fishes, chicken, prawns, mutton and vade included. During weekends they also have crabs (which i have not yet tasted)
Value for money: It sure is worth it...not as expensive as Mahesh Lunch Home and would not hurt your wallet much.
